GRWM: Chanel SS 2017 Makeup Collection

GRWM: Chanel SS 2017 Makeup Collection

Hi hi!!  Happy new year! First entry in 2017 will be a round up of my top picks from the new Chanel SS 2017 Makeup Collection.  The collection is now available in SG, and prices are as follows:

COCO CODE blush (LE) – SG103

LES 4 OMBRES 278 CODES SUBTILS (LE) – SG90

ROUGE COCO SHINE 128 NOIR MODERNE – SG49

LE VERNIS 546 ROUGE RED – SG39

LE VERNIS 556 BEIGE BEIGE – SG39

The collection is made up of a range of very wearable and classic colours – soft reds, neutral olives and browns, and classic beige and noir red.  The immediate thing which jumped out at me, is of course the Coco Code blush – it contains four quadrants of a pearlised pinky bone shade, satin matte bronze shade, soft matte red shade, and a soft metallic pale gold shade.  I have swatched each quadrant separately, but in my overall look, I just lightly tap each shade (instead of swirling over everything) and applied as a blush.  I then only use the bronzer shade to warm up my complexion, and only the pinky bone shade as a soft cheek highlighter.

Next, there are two quads in this collection, and I picked the one which has the khaki/ olive shade. The quad has decent payoff, but there is some powdery kick off when I swatched and pick up colour.. but the kick off (or should I say fall out) is miminal when I am actually applying the colour to my eyes. I had used the brown shade all over my eyelids, and blending out the edges.  I then used the pinky shimmery shade only on the middle of my lids for a more dimensional ‘spotlight’ pop.  I used the olive shade as an eyeliner, mainly on the lower eyelids and also on the outer corners of my upper lash line.  The only shade I didn’t use is the pale gold shade – though I would have probably used it on the inner corner of my eyelids.  A nice pretty quad, but nothing too striking if you already own many of Chanel’s khaki-olive eyeshadows.

The two nail polishes are gorgeous – Beige Beige is a peachy warm nude, and the formula is totally non streaky, and applies so smoothly.  It is a cream finish shade, and I applied two thin coats for a smooth even finish.  Love this shade. Rouge Red is a classic warm red.  It has a ‘soft’ look to it – very opaque with two thin coats, but it is not that kind of intense warm red like coromandel.. if you own too many red nail colours like I do, I hope you know what I mean! 🙂

Lastly, I have a rouge coco shine – Noir Moderne – which is a deep berry shade.  Some Rouge Coco Shine can be pretty intense for a coco shine, but this one is quite sheer, and it is like a MLBB berry shade.  I love this, and I miss how balmy and hydrating the Coco Shines are.  Wore this out for NYE, and I was happily reapplying it without having to use a mirror.  It is that effortless and awesome.

I know these are my top picks.. but if you have to shortlist these pieces further, I would definitely say the Coco Code blush, the lippie, and the Beige Beige nailpolish are must haves!

After Swatching!!

I know some people are like, how to touch and use this beautifully embossing?  I used my fingers to swipe across each quadrant, but realistically you would use a brush, and everything was restored back to ‘normal’ after I have used my brush to pick up the product.  Of course the lettering would wear off when you use this often enough, which is still okay, I have way more intricately embossed Chanel powders which I really can’t bear to use too much of!  This is still quite ‘use-able’.  Hehe.  Besides, it has decent colour payoff, and if you don’t end up using it (and just keeping it as a collectible) that would be such a pity.

GRWM: Chanel Holiday 2016 Collection

GRWM: Chanel Holiday 2016 Collection

001002

Hi hi!!

This entry features my top picks from the Chanel Holiday 2016 collection, which they have very generously sent me.  I wanted to pick products which I can use to create a look and also try out couple of new additions to their collection – such as the cream eyeliner.  And and and… I am quite happy to say that all my picks are really outstanding – in terms of the colour, and also the formula.

The hot pink blush – Hyperfresh –  is super pretty – it is a pink that leans warm and is quite pigmented.  Use a fluffy brush and lightly tap and blend into your skin.  Always stand a bit further away from the mirror to check if you need more colour.  I think this will suit all skintones.

The  cream eyeliner is smooth and ultra black.  Easy to glide on to my eyes, and I just used an angled liner brush to line my eyes. It sets quite fast, overall, easy to work with.  I like!

The Rouge Allure lipstick – Ultra Berry is a balanced combination of red and a deep berry.I have worn it more like a stain here, but the colour can be applied in the normal way to achieve full colour payoff.  I felt that a stain would give this smokey eyelook a more youthful casual vibe.

The eyeshadow palette is impressive – every shade is intensely pigmented, finely milled, and just stunning.  I am not usually a fan of these blackened silvery smokey colour scheme – but the quality alone makes this palette worth splurging on.

As for the last product, I have selected Liquid Mirror nailpolish – this goes on quite smooth, not quite ‘chome-like’ though. I wish this is a little lighter in tone though. And for such a reflective colour I would skip the topcoat so that the metallic finish would not be distorted.

Here are some product close ups, and also swatches of the eyeshadow palette –

And here is the final look – I have made the upperlids quite smokey intense, using both the deep blue shades, and a bit of the dark brown to blend out to the crease.  But just a teeny bit of the brown – it is really intense, and it is easy to go overboard – I did, and had to clean up quite a bit and start over. I added the silver shades to only my lower eyelids.

CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE INK

CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE INK

001004

HI HI, This entry will feature the new CHANEL ROUGEL ALLURE INK – these are available 1 September 2016, SG$49 each.

After the Fall 2016 collection, Lucia Pucia and the Makeup Creation Studio continues to pay homage to the colour red by reintepreting its role in an original way.

ROUGE ALLURE INK is a matte liquid lip colour, which is a new style in CHANEL lipsticks – it has an extremely comfortable velvet soft texture, intense and luminous finish.  Like an ink, it instantly and weightlessly fuses with the lips to leave a lasting imprint.

The packaging is sleek, and compact, with the frosted glass case which allows you to see the actual colour of the product.  The applicator is soft and velvety, and makes for an effortless application.

I have here 5 shades with me

140 Amoureux – a beige nude which is almost just like my lip colour

144 Vivant – a red with coral undertones

148 Libere – a warm red with orangey undertone

152 Choquant – a true red with slightly blue undertone

154 Experimente – a deep red

My thoughts and comparisons:

I have been wearing these lip colours for a few weeks, and they remind me the most of the Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro – though I must say the GA ones are thicker and more intense.  But they both have that velvety matte smooth lip colour and smooth formulation in common, with the Chanel ones being more lightweight.  If compared to the NARS Velvet Lip Glide (which I reviewed here) – the Chanel ones dry and set to a more matte finish.  One thing for sure, among these three high end brands I have mentioned, they are easy to apply, and reapply – they are not the most long lasting especially compared to the new generation of matte liquid lipsticks (like the Kat Von D ones – my review here, or the MAC Retro Matte liquid lip colours, or all the other matte liquid lipsticks out there).  BUT this lack of longevity is not a bad thing. For one thing, the Chanel ones are way way more comfy to wear.  The other day I was wearing one of the ABH liquid lipsticks, and found it so dry I had to wipe them away before I even reach my destination.  But these Chanel ones, or the NARS ones, I can wear them for the whole day, and it is okay.  They won’t stain your lips, and they are easy to clean up and touch up.   I would say the Chanel lip colours will last a few hours, and they are easy to build up.

In terms of application, these can be a tad streaky, so go slowly and apply smooth even layers for a more uniformed finish.

I have enjoyed wearing these, and if you have been wanting to jump on the liquid lipsticks wagon, but put off by the crazy dry matte ones out on the market, you should definitely try out the new Chanel ones.

Chanel has released a range of safe classic colours –  not surprisingly and with the exception of a nude, the rest are various shades of red which will suit every skintone.

My top picks are

140 Amoureux

148 Libere

152 Choquant

As you can see here, the swatches took a few minutes to dry down and appear matte.

GRWM: CHANEL FALL 2016 MAKEUP COLLECTION: LE ROUGE. COLLECTION N°1

GRWM: CHANEL FALL 2016 MAKEUP COLLECTION: LE ROUGE. COLLECTION N°1

Hi hi!

This entry will be a preview/ review/ getting ready with me entry on the pieces I got from the Chanel Le Rouge collection No1 – currently available!

As the name states, this is a collection all about RED… and Chanel does red so sexily, so elegantly and so effortlessly.  I love how this collection is all red tones, yet wearable, and so classic.  For story information – please click on this entry here

Just a quick overview of the products which really stood out to me:

  1. JOUES CONTRASTE Rouge Profond – this red blusher is intense, and you want to be careful with it, I like the soft satin finish of the blush, and gives your cheeks a healthy flush
  2. LES 4 OMBRES Candeur et Expérience – this palette is very wearable – the highlight of this palette is the red of course, and it has just the right amount of brown in it to not scream crazy red eyes when you use it, which is not a good look.  In my LOTD I used the red mainly on my eyelids – and I blended it out up to the crease with the softer browns in this palette.  The result is a reddish toned neutral eye – not cranberry toned (which is redder I guess?) which I sometimes try to do and always end up not liking it.  It is quite a made up look, but if you want to tone it down, you can always go for the 3 other browns in the palette.  The quality of each shade is very fine, and there is no detectable shimmer/ glitter bits at all.
  3. STYLO YEUX WATERPROOF Éros – this is a very soft creamy metallic red eyeliner.  I used this to lightly line my lower lids.  It stayed on pretty well for several hours, and goes on really smoothly.
  4. ILLUSION D’OMBRE VELVET Rouge Contraste – this is a deep dark reddish brown eyeshadow, and I used it to line my upper lids.  You can use it as a base of course, for a really intense smokey eyes, but I am not really into dark smokey eyes, and this works great to define your eyes when you use a liner brush to apply.
  5. LE VERNIS GLOSS Rouge Radical – this is very cute, like a more playful version of your usual red nail polish colour.  One coat gives you a jelly glassy effect, and the colour payoff is pretty intense for a ‘gloss’.  LE VERNIS Rouge Puissant is a rich red that is opaque in one coat, though I would apply two for maximum shine.
  6. All the Rouge Allure Velvet – they are all gorgeous interpretations of the red colour, and each of them have subtle differences in their undertone. I personally prefer ROUGE ALLURE VELVET Rouge Feu which is a soft matte bright cherry red.  My sister loves the formula and colour of the ROUGE ALLURE Rouge Tentation which is a creamier formula, and the shade is a deeper red which she prefers.
  7. LE CRAYON LÈVRES Séduction which is a beautiful red lip pencil.  It glides on smoothly, and the colour will go with many red lippies that you already have.. especially those reds with a berry deeper tone.  It also blends it nicely without leaving a harsh line.

Bottom line:

Overall, this is a stunning collection with wearable reds that will flatter most skintones.  If I have to pick three items from this collection, I would go for the eyeshadow quad – it is really unique, intense and offers endless possibilities for wearing.  I would also pick the lip pencil – it is such a fancy thing to do, holding a Chanel pencil in your hand, filling in your lips.  Lastly, you got pick at least one of the Rouge Allure, there will be at least one which appeals to you.. and well, I can’t have enough Chanel red lipsticks.. hehe.
